One of the best movies to come out of disney!! - The Lion King Reviews

Lion King has long been a favourite of mine. It has the warmth of every Disney film and the brilliant bad guys combined with spectacular scenery and animations. And with the special edition DVD and video coming out on the 31st October, this memorable story will be brought to life again. (well I know what I'm buying on October 31st that's for sure!!!)

A rememberable classic - The Lion King Reviews

I remember when I was a little kid and I Just watched it the first time and I would remember the dialog the next day. The voices are played by great actors and the songs are great! I think I'm gonna watch it now.

Greatest animation made by disney. - The Lion King Reviews

All I can say is---WOW! This sure is a great movie! Even though I'm already a pre-teen, I still laugh at Timon and Pumba's "looney acts" like when Timon danced the Hula.Even Simba and Nala's love story was sweet! (I know that they're just lions) Disney really knows how to make a movie, a REAL movie! Most of all, the soundtrack was just the best! Circle of Life, Can you feel the love tonight, etc. This movie is Brilliant!!! Oscar-Worthy I say!

Great family flick - The Lion King Reviews

I loved this movie. The Lion King is the best family movie you will find. The movie won three Academy Awards. The music is awesome.I must admit the movie was so touching it brought a tear to my eye. I recommend this movie to people of all ages.

Lion king - The Lion King Reviews

This is one of the best animated films i've ever seen! The color, the characters, the music, everything was done perfectly!

Just not the same - The Lion King Reviews

I bought this movie when it came out on VHS the first time it was great and remains great I bought the DVD today and watched it with my 3 year old daughter the picture was great everything was was awesome but I did not like the enhancements where is Elton John's voice singing?? the added extra scenes, I just think what they added and what they took out just takes away from the movie I love the original and wish I had not bought the DVD.My 11 year old step son tried sing along with the movie and he could not because it had changed so much he turned and said I thought you said you bought the Loin King and walked out of the room. We are very disappointed with the DVD the movie is awesome but don't buy the DVD if you haven't already

This movie really reminds my childhood - The Lion King Reviews

The colorful scenes of Africa and the sounds of background music reminds me of my life in 1995 and 1996. My favorite character in this movie is the lion Simba, and he was an attraction stimulation for me in the summer of 1996. I find some parts a little funny. I like the scenes of the savannah of Africa, near Pride Rock, the scenes of the elephant graveyard, the scenes of the tropical jungle, and the scenes of sunrises and sunsets. The music in this movie were very good and I have the Lion King soundtrack CD for a long time.

King of disney - The Lion King Reviews

An all-star voice cast, great plot, solid animation, what's not to like here?! It is the absolute BEST disney movie out there, and it even beats out some of the non disney, non animated movies that have been or are being made. I can never have enough of this movie, i have the video, saw it in theatres and imax theatres, can't wait for the dvd! man this is just one of those movies that's like 'you're an idiot if you havent seen this movie' or 'screw you if you don't like this movie' kind of thing. though i definitely don't recommend this for children (violence and the plot and moral is too difficult for them to see and understand), but older kids and adults (i'm a teen and i luv this movie!) will enjoy! Based off of hamelt, this is truly the 'King of Disney'

The last great disney animation - The Lion King Reviews

This is truly the last Disney Feature animation that was any good. Now when I say this, I don't include the Pixar movies (i.e. Toy Story, Monster, Inc., etc). All of Disney's feature animations after this one have been very low quality. Sure they're fun, but in terms of story, characters, and settings, the rest (with the exception of Mulan) have been low-grade family entertainment and not the high-quality Magical expierience that we have come to expect from Disney.

D - for dumb humor - Wedding Crashers Reviews

I am simply let down everytime I get talked into going to an american made comedy. Who's rating these comedy movies... post pubescent boys and girls? I guess if you think bare breasted women, stupid cliches' and just plain dumb writing is funny... more power to you. I'll stick to the foreign comedies, until Hollywood can produce something more funny than this type of garbage.

Loved it - The Lion King Reviews

I think eveyone has seen this movie, but if you haven't GET IT. This movie was great. I love it, my child loves it, my husband loves it. What more can I say?

A beloved classic - The Lion King Reviews

This is my second favorite Disney film (next to Dumbo, only because that was my childhood favorite). I watched the new DVD recently, and it's just amazing as always. From the wonderful opening sequence to the inspiring finale, this movie is perfect from beginning to end. While computer animation seems to be getting all the attention lately, The Lion King is just as beautiful and amazing as the latest Pixar films. The soundtrack is just absolutely amazing. Every song is catchy and very memorable. Hans Zimmer's score puts you right back in the movie. Thank goodness I have my Lion King soundtrack! The characters are great too. Who doesn't remember the classic scene where Mufasa appears to Simba?! On the other side, Scar makes for a very treacherous and diabolical villain. And Timon and Pumbaa are lovable and hilarious; which means I'm looking forward to LK 1.5 just for them (which is saying quite a bit for a direct-to-video film!) This movie also transcends generations. My 2-year old niece was absolutely fixated on this movie for the whole 90 minutes, and that's saying something! I can't think of anything wrong with this movie. Perfect score!!!

Best move ever - The Lion King Reviews

Sure, finding nemo was good and all, but who gives what people say?!! THE LION KING IS THE BEST EVER!!! PEOPLE NEED TO GET THEIR FACTS STRAIGHT! LONG LIVE THE LION KING!!

"hacunamatata" - The Lion King Reviews

hacunamatata! what a wonderful phrase. ya. hacunamatata. lalalalalalalalala. i dodn't know the rest. this movie was good because it had good animation and lots of silly songs for kids to enjoy. it brings thrill to children's minds

Movie=great dvd=ok - The Lion King Reviews

The movie has to be the best thing about this dvd. The dvd is ok with all the extras on it but they kinda fall short of the quality of the movie itself. Its a great thing to buy it if you havent had a chance to get the movie prior to this release, but there isnt too much of a reason to go out of your way to get it if you already have the movie.

The lion king rules - The Lion King Reviews

TheLion King was one of the best movies i've ever seen. If u haven't seen it, u should. I strongly reccomend that if u go to blockbuster this is the movie to get!

Best ever!!! - The Lion King Reviews

Man, I've been waiting for the DVD for almost 10 years and I finally got it the day before yesterday. The story is touching and I just like every single part of this Lion King movie. I watched it so many times and it is just unforgettable.

Plain briliant! - The Lion King Reviews

The lion king is the greatest animated film. Forget Nemo, Nemo came out in more theaters and tickets cost more, I don't care if it beat the Lion King in money, it's the story that counts, nemo was good but the Lion King is Superb. Filled with Catchy and beautiful songs! You Go Disney.

Best animated movie i've ever seen - The Lion King Reviews

I saw this in the theaters with my family at least 6 times in 1994. It's the best animated film i've ever seen; Disney created a masterpiece. The art and visuals in this were so astounding and looked so much like a real Africa that I was speechless. The music was absolutley great and I think that anyone of any age would enjoy the pure quality of this movie. :-)

The best, greatest movie ever!!!! - The Lion King Reviews

This is one Hell of a good movie! This was the first movie I saw in theatres EVER! I instantly fell for the flik! It got me into Disney fliks. It has the best songs and musical score ever. John, Rice and Zimmer did a great job! Disney at it's best!!!!

Great - The Lion King Reviews

I first saw this movie when I was aobut 6 and I loved it but I still love it. And to the last post: The Lion King is not a rip off. Those who have read Shakespeare should know The Lion King is based on Hamlet. So if it seemed like a rip off of whatever that movie you said was, that was probably also based upon Hamlet. Just letting you know. This is really one of the best Disney films.

Lion king number 1 fan! (me) - The Lion King Reviews

Only 30 words could not possibly describe this wonderful movie. A heart-warming journey, emotional roller coaster, unforgetable characters and timeless tales doesn't even begin to describe this movie. I bought it on DVD and was swept away. Anyone who disagrees or thinks there a bigger fan than me, needs to look in the mirror. Hakuna Matata! Lion King #1 Fan

Lessons to be learned - The Lion King Reviews

Very rarely do you come across a movie that has lessons to be learned for all ages. Truely a spectacular movie in our modern time! Add to that the wonder music and you have a film for everyone to enjoy who is mature and has consious.

?a film with endless impact? - The Lion King Reviews

The Lion King by Walt Disney is one of my favorite cartoon film. It presented the very basic value of man but can change the view of man to the world - LOVE. Love for parents, others and himself. I could also remember my dad who passed away upon seeing the film. This became my inpiration to face life's trial and believing that my dad is there with the stars. Watching me as I face the uncertain tomorrow. The "HAKUNA MATATA" song gave me the lasting hope. They are true that we really don't have to worry because God is there to help. And lastly, the CIRCLE OF LIFE, which is my favorite song, made me realize that all of us are within a circle. We are all one as family, brothers & sisters and friends. Thank you Walt Disney for having this film and you really deserve an A+ rating as you presented a film with endless impact to the hearts of humanity. Arman Jison Cavite, Philippines

Most likely the best of the modern disney films - The Lion King Reviews

After Walt Disney?s death in 1966, movies were still made in his honor. ?The Lion King?, made in 1994, is most likely the best of the modern Disney movies. The wonderful characters, the top-of-its-form animation, and the magnificent story are responsible for this. Even if the critics didn?t quite love ?The Lion King? (besides Rolling Stone), I won?t ever forget it. As a 3 year-old boy in 1994, I saw ?The Lion King? twice in theaters. It begins at a place in an African savanna known as Pride Rock (which is like two gigantic slanted rocks connected together), where the lion king Mufasa (James Earl Jones) and his wife Sarabi (Madge Sinclair) have just had a newborn lion cub son named Simba (Jonathan Taylor Thomas). Simba is then taken up to the top of Pride Rock by the baboon Rafiki (Robert Guillaume) and held up high so that all of the animals at the bottom can see. Simba is then destined to be the future king of Pride Rock. Unhappy about Simba?s birth is Mufasa?s brother Scar (Jeremy Irons), who longs to be king. In an attempt to get rid of Simba, Scar tells him much about the shadow lands that Mufasa has told Simba never to go to. Scar reveals that it?s an elephant graveyard, tempting Simba to check it out. Simba and his female cub friend Nala (Niketa Calame) trick Mufasa?s messenger bird Zazu (Rowan Atkinson) into thinking they?re going to a water hole, and then they make they?re escape. When Zazu finally catches up with them and finds them at the graveyard, however, it?s too late. The three animals are caught by three hungry hyenas, which almost devour them until Mufasa comes to their rescue. The fearful hyenas run off, but Mufasa is very angry with Simba. After Zazu and Nala leave, Mufasa and Simba have a talk, but Mufasa quickly forgives Simba and it becomes clear that it would be painful if ever they were separated. Sadly, Scar and the hyenas are on the same team, and this time they hatch a plan to kill Mufasa by launching a buffalo stampede. Mufasa ends up climbing a rocky cliff and about to fall. Scar is at the top, and Mufasa pleads for help. Scar grabs Mufasa?s hands, gazes into Mufasa?s eyes and with an evil grin says, ?Long live the king?. Then Scar throws Mufasa off the cliff, watching him fall to his death into the stampede. Simba sees his father?s death from another angle; not seeing Scar at all, and believes Mufasa accidentally fell off the cliff and that Simba made no attempt to save him. Scar makes Simba think that it?s his fault and tells him to run away and never return, before the animals believe that Simba is responsible for Mufasa?s death. And that?s exactly what Simba does. He runs off into a desert and wishes to die, full of guilt and belief that he himself is a murderer. But then Simba, nearly dead, is found by two other kinds of animals. One animal whose species I?m unaware of is Timon (Nathan Lane), and Timon?s big warthog friend is Pumba (Ernie Sabella). Timon and Pumba quickly become friends with Simba, and like the bear Baloo taught Mowgli about the Bare Necessities in ?The Jungle Book?, Timon and Pumba teach Simba about something called ?Hakuna Matata?, which is a ?problem-free philosophy? that ?means no worries for the rest of your days?. Simba then lives with them in a huge jungle paradise, and he enters a life in which he?s never been happier. Simba lives with Timon and Pumba until he?s fully grown (now he?s played by Matthew Broderick), when suddenly; he meets up with Nala again (she is now played by Moira Kelly). Nala has traveled far from Pride Rock to find help. Scar, who?s now the king, has made the mistake of allowing all of the hyenas from the elephant graveyard to take over Pride Rock. Now the place is a wreck. The hyenas are complaining about how food and water has run out; Sarabi says that there?s no choice but to leave the land; and Zazu has become Scar?s miserable prisoner. Nala tells Simba that if he doesn?t return to Pride Rock and take the throne, every animal will starve. So, Simba has to make a choice: return to his home and face his past, or live in paradise while all of the animals he grew up with die. We know what?s best, but does Simba? Almost great about ?The Lion King? is the cast. Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella are hilarious as Timon and Pumba, James Earl Jones is powerful as Mufasa, and Jonathan Taylor Thomas is energetic as young Simba. The best performance of the movie comes from Jeremy Irons, who delivers all of the fear and power that is needed for the role of Scar. As for Matthew Broderick, he is OK as the older version of Simba, but I strongly believe that somebody else could have played him better. When the 21st century struck, it became clear that Walt Disney Pictures was triumphing more in its computer animated department (AKA Pixar), and its regularly animated films were beginning to dim. ?The Lion King? is a symbol that Disney?s regularly animated films are still strong. The good news is that Pixar is departing from Disney, and now Disney?s regularly animated films can be strong again. Whoever doesn?t believe me should see ?The Lion King? if they haven?t already, and then maybe the truth would appear. There is a chance that of all the modern Disney movies, Walt Disney may have loved this one the most. By Adam Zanzie (icebox482000)

Truly the best! - The Lion King Reviews

The Lion King is a veary outstanding movie. I think that this movie would be fun for any one in the whole family! I'am 16, and I still wach this movie all the time, (eavn by my self). So if you feel like waching a good movie. Just pop in the tape. Oh and in the end of the movie there is this cub alot of peopel think is a boy, its a girl. Wach the second one. Hello!

Rip-off? - The Lion King Reviews

I saw a post proclaiming this was a rip-off. Surely many things did happen the same, but alot didnt. Now Kimba's father was killed by poachers and his mother died on a ship. There were humans in Jungle Emperor, many many different animals, Kimba's mother appeared in the stars whilst his father came to Kimba in the moon, it was also a televison show. Simba means "Lion" in African so there is where your name comes from. Now I do like Disney and I will admit some of the occurences in the two stories are the same but none the less, Tezuka ripped-off{for lack of a better word!} Diseny by creating a 45 minute film about 7 characters who looked strikingly similar to the seven dwarfs: but you see no one debating this? Very well. Oh yeah, all anime originally started with Disney animation. Tezuka for one, admired Disney animation and begain usuing the eyes and such for the character appearances{I am unsure if he was the first though} and the animation begain changing to the anime you see today. Yes, The Lion King WAS recreated after Hamlet - read the two story lines and you will see. Animes does tend to rip-off other ideas, but so do many things so I am on neither side. My iritation with Kimba is he did not look like a lion, nor did many of the chracters look like what they were supposed to be. But what are ya going to do? As for the film, The Lion King was very good, the acting was fairly well and the visuals were fantastic - I wish Dinsey would put as much effort into their newer films as they did into these older ones..

It's too bad disney ruined it with bad sequels - The Lion King Reviews

While not the best animated film that Disney has made (that honor goes to Beauty and the beast) The Lion King is indeed a wonderful animated feature that has a lot of things going on for it. The animation for example is maginficent, not as good as Beauty and the Beast, but it's truly a sight to behold. The voice acting is fantastic and completely vital to teh story, it never takes a seat back from the animation; even the songs are great. The story is handled pretty well and its not dumbed down, it is simple enough for kids to understand, and interesting enough for adults to enjoy. Unfortunately, Disney has lessened the impact of this film by releasing two really inferior sequels that only show us that Disney is just trying to milk the good name of this movie for all its worth. That's sad. Overall: Excellent movie (It even manages to save itself from being a copy of Japanese legend Osamu Tezuka's Kimba the white lion) That delivers an outstanding piece of animation everybody should experience.

One of walt disneys best! - The Lion King Reviews

Walt Disney animated motion picture set in epic proportions, masterfully done with encouragingly high hopes of a Disney animated feature winning a Best Picture Academy Award. The Lion King will miss out on the highest accolade, but it was definitely regarded as one of Disney?s best offering for quite awhile and it will concisely receive a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. The animation is breath taking, the scripting is compact, and the cast is well assembled, as directors Roger Allers and Robert Minkoff combine all these great elements to deliver a well appreciated spectacle. With accurate casting, Matthew Broderick, Jeremy Irons, James Earl Jones, Moira Kelly, Jonathan Taylor Thomas etc. should all be recognized for there impeccable voicing of characters, also noted are comical performances by Ernie Sabella and Nathan Lane. An Academy and Golden Globe Awards for Best Original Score went to Hans Zimmer, and Best Song [Can You Feel The Love Tonight] Elton John [music] and Tim Rice [lyrics]. The Lion King is personally regarded as one of Disney?s best work, as it matches the greatness of the earlier masterpieces of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs and Pinocchio.

Disney days - The Lion King Reviews

On Dec 1 and Dec 2nd I will be reviewing Disney movies, that I enjoyed (especially as a little frogger, but now too) and some ones I didn't. I don't know what it is about this one that I like so much but it is a good movie, with a great story, for kids, and adults alike (and the odd nerdy teen like me)

Stunning - The Lion King Reviews

What can I say about this movie? It's simply stunning! Not only is it rated G and animated, but it teaches you life lessons too. I have heard grown men talk about how good this movie is, and I usually don't hear that. Whether you're alone or with friends rent this movie! It's the greatest!

King of the animation jungle - The Lion King Reviews

The Lion King is but another richly deserved jewel in Disney's crown. When first seen on the big screen, its opening sequence had me in awe. The stunning use of colors, the detail in the animation and the use of voices - Bring this movie to life in a huge way. The story outlines a child's (or cub's) loss of innocence with the death of his father. Simba, the heir to his father's kingdom within the Jungle is lured into a dangerous situation by his evil uncle (Scar) in order to kill both father (Mufasa) and child (Simba) and claim his nephew's birthright. This movie also details the right of passage that Simba must endure to reach manhood and recapture his stolen birthright and exact payment from his wicked crimes. Since this is animation, the life we see on the screen is that of the voices that portay the character. James Earl Jones lends his powerful voice to the role of Mufasa, while Jonathan Thomas is voice of Young Simba. Jeff Irons is the voice of the evil Scar and Matthew Brodric is the voice of Adult Simba. =My Review= Simply Fantasitc. Little children might be somewhat afraid of the images of Mufasa and Simba caught in a stampede. And within the lair of Scar, we see a parade of his followers goose stepping like Nazi foot- soldiers. Besides the obvious drama that you would expect from an animated movie that deals with the subject matter of death, it does have its light hearted moments. Simba is befriended by two characters that inject a much needed element of fun and frolic. It also allows the movie not to be bogged down in elements that kids might not understand fully. Over all, this movie was and still is a great animated film. A must for any and all fans of Disney. =Other Movies You Might Like= If you liked this movie, you might enjoy these others: BEAUTY AND THE BEAST SNOW WHITE CINDERELLA ALADDIN

Probably disney's best film - The Lion King Reviews

I don't like it more then Toy Story, but I think that it is Disney's best film. Some of it may actually be a little too scary or violent for very young children, but I really enjoyed thins film. I also think that it has the best cartoon animation out of all of Disney's films.

Disney's finest moment - The Lion King Reviews

It is impossible to watch this film and not be in awe of the delicate balance the movie strikes between life lessons (yes, we all die Simba), obligations, and the simple joy we can all find in relationships. To say this movie was a true treasure is an understatement. The dialog and interplay between charactors is magical. The songs flow with toe tapping efficiency, and the story is a delight to adults and children alike. As a parent who searches for ways to discuss life (and like's burdons) with my children, this movie was a revelation. The Lion King is soon to be released again on a special edition DVD. I plan on being in line to purchase it the day it arrives locally. This is children's film making at it's finest.

Greatest animated film of all time! - The Lion King Reviews

Forget "Finding Nemo", TLK is still the "King" of animated films. Wonderful story, visuals, voice acting, you couldn't ask for more! If ticket prices cost as much as they did today, TLK would've surpassed "Nemo" no problem.
